The Major League Baseball trade deadline is quickly approaching. With only a week to spare, are the Giants looking to trade its assets despite their recent surge?

Farhan Zaidi and the San Fransisco Giants are looking into the dilemma at a tough position. On Sunday, the Canadian-American baseball executive declined to comment on the situation before their win against the New York Mets.

There have been tittle-tattles that the Cardinals are keen on taking Madison Bumgarner before the July 31 cutoff, but the lefty isn't going anywhere. Aside from St. Louis' inclusion in "MadBum's" eight-team no-trade list, the pitcher doesn't want to move out.

According to ESPN's Buster Olney, Bumgarner could "turndown a deal just to continue to be part," of the Giants. Olney's source said that he wouldn't be shocked if the 29-year-old pitcher decides to stay in San Fransisco.

He added that he could use the no-trade clause to remain with the franchise plus some added compensation. The source told the American columnist that "MadBum" warrants some monetary consideration for his tenure for the San Fransisco Giants.

Bumgarner, for his part, has rejected trade musings and said that "I don't give an s***... I'm here to win games for this team (Giants), and that's what we're doing."

Back in May, the press reported that Madison has eight teams on his no-trade clause. It includes two teams that are rumored to be actively pursuing the star pitcher: the Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals. Other organizations that fill clause are the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Houston Astros, Milwaukee Brewers, New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies.

A month ago, the Atlanta Braves were active in trade discussions for Bumgarner. However, offers cooled down a bit after a 15-3 run that catapulted the Giants in the standings. President of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi has continued to decline offers for the "MadBum," and insists that they are focused on winning the World Series.

The San Fransisco Giants have been exceptional as of late. The organization has won 14 of their past 17 games, including a seven-win run before losing to the Mets on Saturday. They currently hold a 49-50 win-loss record. Zaidi and his front office have lately added Mike Yastrzemski, Alex Dickerson, and Donovan Solano to improve their campaign.
