It’s no secret that this week’s conference tournaments will have a major impact on the final field that gets selected to the 2017 NCAA Tournament. A few teams stand out as heavy favorites to win their respective conference championships, but any upsets can cause a shakeup in March Madness.

The ACC will get the most teams in the field, and 10 schools are projected to represent the conference during March Madness. North Carolina and Louisville have the best odds to win the championship, while Duke and Virginia are not far behind. A few of the teams that finished towards the middle of the conference standings, like Syracuse and Wake Forest, might need to reach the quarterfinals in order to secure their spot in the Big Dance.

There is no bigger favorite in any of the major conferences than Villanova. The defending national champions and No.1 ranked team in the country is expected to win the Big East Tournament and solidify themselves as the top seed in one of the NCAA Tournament’s four regions. Butler is their biggest competition and looking to potentially secure a No.2 seed with a Big East Championship.

Along with the Big East, the Big Ten could get at least seven teams into the Big Dance. Purdue is the favorite to win the conference championship, but the most important part of the tournament might come in the early rounds. With 13 losses apiece, Illinois and Iowa might currently be on the outside looking in on the NCAA Tournament, and a run in the Big Ten Championship could change the fate of either team. Michigan State might also need a victory to solidify their place in March Madness this season.

The Pac-12 Tournament winner might be the most difficult to predict. Playing in the weakest major conference, Oregon, Arizona and UCLA are still alive for No.1 seeds in the Big Dance, all having suffered four or fewer losses on the season. Both Utah and USC appear to be on the bubble at the start of the conference tournament.

Kansas is the odds-on favorite to win the Big 12 Tournament, and the same is the case with Kentucky in the SEC.
