These days, the concept of the metaverse is more popular than ever before. From Facebook announcing that its parent company would be changing its name to Meta to the prevalence of the concept in gaming, meta is certainly having its moment, with tons of benefits for fans.

A metaverse is a virtual universe that users can interact within a similar vein to the way they interact with the real world. Anyone who is interested in gaming is likely already familiar with the idea of a virtual universe but now, gaming projects are taking things to the next level.

One of these is Meta Legends, a play-to-earn NFT-based gaming offering that recently announced an upcoming NFT sale to fund the expansion of its universe. This represents not only the growth of metaverses in gaming but the growth of NFT use as well.

Meta Legend’s New Announcement

As per a new announcement from the company, Meta Legends will be holding a public sale of 12,345 NFTs called ‘Legends’. These legends are put into different categories based on how rare they are and are generated with hundreds of elements. Each NFT is an ERC-721 and is based on the Ethereum blockchain.

The goal of this fundraising effort is to expand on the Meta Legends ecosystem and this will be done in two ways. First, an application called Meta Connect will be developed which acts as a medium through which Meta Legends users can connect to each other, store their existing NFTs, and also determine their value.

Next will be the wider Meta Legends ecosystem in which users can stack crypto, own a number of virtual material items and explore the universe. Meta Legend’s wider goal is to not only create a thriving metaverse but to also create an entertainment license.

Once users buy their NFTs and have access to the metaverse, they will be able to interact with it, and with each other, in a number of ways. First, the Legends they buy will act as their in-game characters and using the legends, they will be able to engage in space races, competitions, and so on.

The legends can also virtually attend events like concerts and festivals. Perhaps one of the most impressive parts of the Meta Legends universe is that users can earn a virtual income within it and this is done in a number of ways.

Legends who own virtual land can rent it out to others to make an income. This also applies to weapons, vehicles, and so on. The virtual houses in Meta Legends can also be sold or rented and their owners can earn an income. In the future, Meta Legends intends for the tokens earned in its universe to have an actual monetary value.

The Future of the Metaverse

All these developments of the metaverse both within and outside gaming are leading up to widespread adoption of Web3, the next step in internet evolution that heavily employs the concept of a metaverse. All these, however, will only be possible with strong technology foundations behind it.

Meta Legends itself has credits Unreal5, its game engine, for allowing it to make its metaverse as vivid as it is.

“Photorealistic rendering, dynamic physics and effects, lifelike animation and built-in tools for advanced character rigging animation and performance capture streaming. It can create believable human and animal characters, massive scale reactive environments and film quality levels of VFX. Worldbuilding – including real-time landscape and terrain tools, sky cloud and environment lighting, real-time ray tracing and rasterization, are also included,” says Maxime Hacquard.

As these sorts of initiatives continue to make headway, we can only expect more innovative products to emerge, inside and outside of gaming.
