National Cheeseburger Day is Tuesday, Sept. 18. Burger joints across the nation are celebrating this momentous occasion with a variety of deals, while others are honoring the day by using your cheeseburger purchase to benefit charity.

Perhaps one of the greatest deals in the country on National Cheeseburger Day comes courtesy of Idle Hands Bar in New York City's East Village.

The bar, at 25 Avenue B, is dishing up free mini-cheeseburgers from That Burger in celebration of National Cheeseburger Day for any patron who buys $5 worth of drinks.

In addition to the free mini-cheeseburgers, Idle Hands said it will have That Burger's full menu available to patrons, which includes "the all new Hot Sauce, Bourbon Spiked Ketchup & Red Island Sauces as well as the new The Guac and Roll, The Rodeo and The Cowboys from Hell Burgers."

Also participating in National Cheeseburger Day is Captain Billy Whizzbangs in Waco, Tex. Cheese is free at the burger restaurant for anyone ordering a hamburger patty.

"It is national Cheeseburger day; to celebrate we are offering a wide variety of cheeses for FREE on your burger, just to our fans on Facebook and Twitter,' the burger joint's Facebook page says.

Back in New York City, MILK Burger in Upper Manhattan is dishing up free cheeseburgers to the first 10 customers to enter the 2nd Avenue eatery on National Cheeseburger Day.

But you don't have to be one of the first 10 customers to get in on a deal at MILK Burger. The burger joint is offering free cheeseburgers with any cheeseburger meal purchase, according to its Facebook page.

In Seattle, Lunchbox Laboratory has a buy one-get one offer running on National Cheeseburger Day.

"Bring your bestie in this Tuesday from 4-11 to celebrate National Cheeseburger Day! Buy one get one free burgers all night long!" the Thomas Street eatery proclaims on its Facebook page.

While some burger joints are giving away to their customers, others are giving back to charity.

Five Guys Burgers is partnering with KRAFT and Foursquare to donate the amount of your burger purchase to Feeding America, according to techcrunch.com.

"Foursquare's great for exploring the world around you, but it's also great for giving back! In honor of [today]'s National Cheeseburger Day, when you check in at Five Guys Burgers & Fries, KRAFT Cheese will donate the equivalent of a meal to Feeding America, an organization that operates food banks across the United States," the tech company said. "The event starts today and lasts for two weeks, so the more burgers, the better!"

National burger chain McDonald's was cryptic in how it would be celebrating National Cheeseburger Day.

"No better place to be on National Cheeseburger Day than McD's...that's why we are surprising tweeps w/ Cheeseburgers all day!" the fast food chain's Twitter account said.

America loves its burgers, and that affection is evident on Twitter, where "National Cheesburger Day" was a trending topic Tuesday.

"National Cheeseburger Day.. I'm salivating:) double cheese burger with pickle..," wrote @Steffbutterfly.

"I see it's national cheeseburger day. May have just had lunch decided for me," tweeted Mark Prior.

"It's National Cheeseburger Day! If anyone wants to get me one I'd be a happy lady," said Amy Ziegler.
