Netflix has plenty of children and family friendly Halloween movies and specials that everyone can watch. Here are some of the available options. Getty

Halloween is right around the corner and there are many options you can turn to for some October frights. While scary movie favorites like "Halloween" and "Friday the 13th" are airing on TV and available for streaming, there are plenty of family-friendly titles to settle down with at night. Check out our list of over 20 movies and shorts that are available to stream on Netflix this October:

"The Nightmare Before Christmas"

This animated classic combines Halloween and Christmas into one film. The king of Halloweentown, Jack Skeleton, getting bored of scaring people. When he discovers a town called Christmas Town he decides to kidnap Santa Claus and take over the role himself. The movie also features plenty of great songs by Danny Elfman.

"Curious George: A Halloween Boofest"

George and the man in the yellow hat celebrate Halloween with a variety of different seasonal activities including hayrides, the annual Boo Festival and pumpkin picking.

"Children's Favorites: Halloween Treats"

A collection of different children's shows which teaches kids about the fun of Halloween. The shows include "Barney" and "Bob the Builder."

"Power Rangers Halloween Specials"

Although taking on monsters every day is normal for the "Power Rangers," there are still a few Halloween specials available. You can stream "Power Rangers Mega Force: Raising Spirits," "Power Rangers Samurai: Party Monsters" and "Power Rangers Super Samurai."

"A Magic Puppy"

A girl named Molly wants to surprise her boyfriend around Halloween, but the spell goes horribly wrong and turns her Mom's boyfriend into a dog.

"Corpse Bride"

After the success of "The Nightmare Before Christmas," Burton decided to make another animated movie. Johnny Depp voices Victor, who runs into a problem when he's practicing lines for his wedding in the woods and he finds his way into the land of the dead. There he catches the eye of a dead bride.

"Dreamworks Spooky Stories"

Shrek and all his friends, including Donkey, get together in a haunted castle where he does his best to scare all of them with scary stories. The monsters from "Monsters vs. Aliens" also have to take on alien pumpkins.

"Alvin And The Chipmunks Meet The Wolfman"

Alvin, Theodore and Simon try to put together a play of "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," but things start to get scary, especially when they meet the creature brought about by the full moon.

"Alvin And The Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein"

While at a theme park, the three singing chipmunks go into Frankenstin's Castle and actually find the popular big green monster inside.

"Room On The Broom"

This animated short received an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Short. A kind witch offers to give rides to many animals on her broom, even though her cat doesn't want her too.

"Mickey's House Of Mouse: Villains"

Mickey's House of Mouse is in for a bad Halloween surprise when "Aladdin" villain Jafar assembles a group of Disney villains to take over the House of Mouse. Jafar is joined by Hades from "Hercules," Cruella De Vil from "101 Dalmations" and Ursula from "A Little Mermaid" while Mickey and company will try to stop them.

"Dear Dracula"

Count Dracula is voiced by Ray Liotta in this Halloween movie where he has to try and find his scaring confidence back. A young horror movie buff will do his best to help the count.

"Casper's Scare School"

The friendly ghost decides to try and learn how to be scary by going to Scare School. Instead he gets himself into trouble that could affect the whole world.

"R.L. Stine's Monsterville: Cabinet Of Souls"

A horror attraction comes to town, but there may be more to it than meets the eye. High schoolers are anxious to check it out, but the man running it has some evil plans in mind.

"Girl vs. Monster"

This Disney Channel movie is about a girl named Skylar who finds out her parents are keeping a secret from her when she accidentally releases a group of monsters in the basement.

"Dreamworks Spooky Stories 2"

The Dreamworks animated characters are back at it for more Halloween fun. Shrek and his friends recreate Michael Jackson's famous "Thriller" video, B.O.B. from "Monsters vs. Aliens" will have to find a way to get passed zombie carrots and Megamind has to deal with "The Button of Doom."

"Spooky Buddies"

Air Bud's puppies, the Buddies, are dressed up for the holiday and they investigate a mansion that's haunted by the Halloween Hound.

"Monster High: Friday Night Frights"

The school has to rally behind their team after the two best players get hurt before the Skulltimate Roller Maze Championship.

"Monster High: Ghouls Rule"

Monsters and humans come together to celebrate Halloween in this animated special for the whole family.

"R.L. Stine's Mostly Ghostly: Have You Met My Ghoulfriend"

A teenage couple's first date is ruined by a ghost who wants to take over the world.

"R.L. Stine's Haunting Hour: Don't Think About It"

The "Goosebump" author presents a story about a teenage girl who has a tough time fitting in at school. To get back at people she starts playing cruel pranks on the "cool" kids in the school.
