While discussing his plan to fight Covid and the concerning new variant Omicron, President Joe Biden clarified that the agenda “doesn’t include shutdowns or lockdowns”, but rather “widespread vaccinations and boosters and testing a lot more.”

The Biden Administration is hopeful that the number of Americans receiving booster shots will increase. The 46th president also explained why he decided to forbid admission to most travelers from eight countries located in Southern Africa.

"Restricting travel gives us time to take more actions,” he said.

Furthermore, major vaccine manufacturers such as AstraZeneca and Moderna have stated that they are continually working to find ways to modify their shots to the troubling mutated strain of the virus.

“We have the best vaccine in the world, the best medicines, the best scientists, and we’re learning more every single day,” Biden said in a White House news conference. “We are in a better position than we were a year ago to fight COVID-19.”
