  • Jennifer Crumbley praised Trump for "respecting the Amendment" on gun rights

  • The shooter's parents may also face charges

Jennifer Crumbley, the mother of the accused Michigan school shooter Ethan Crumbley, once praised former President Donald Trump for supporting gun rights.

Jennifer’s open letter was published on Nov. 11, 2016, just days after Trump won the 2016 presidential election.

“As a female and a Realtor, thank you for allowing my right to bear arms. Allowing me to be protected if I show a home to someone with bad intentions,” Jennifer wrote in her blog post, a copy of which was saved by Archive.today. “Thank you for respecting that Amendment.”

In her post, Jennifer also hinted at financial struggles, noting that she was skipping car insurance payments to hire a tutor for her son.

“My son struggles daily, and my teachers tell me they hate teaching it but the [sic] HAVE to,” Jennifer wrote. “I sacrifice car insurance to make sure my son gets a good education and hopefully succeeds in life.”

Jennifer is currently under scrutiny after her 15-year-old son Ethan went on a shooting rampage inside Oxford High School on Tuesday afternoon, killing four students and injuring seven other people, including a teacher.

An investigation found that the 9mm semi-automatic Sig Sauer SP2022 handgun Ethan used during the shooting rampage was bought by his father, James, four days prior to the shooting. The pistol still had seven rounds when it was confiscated by police officers.

Investigators also discovered that two teachers had reported Ethan’s concerning behavior the day before the shooting. His behavior prompted teachers to conduct two meetings with him, including one that both Jennifer and James attended.

It is still unclear what could have pushed Ethan to go on a shooting rampage. Investigators said Ethan’s parents have advised him not to speak to authorities following his arrest. However, some of the suspect’s classmates told the Detroit Free Press that he was being bullied.

Police have since raided the family’s home from which they seized several long guns. Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald is currently weighing whether to press charges against both parents.
