A few days after the matchup for the 2019 NFC Championship Game was set, the point spread is starting to move. The Los Angeles Rams remain the underdogs, but the betting odds no longer favor the New Orleans Saints by more than a field goal at some sportsbooks.

New Orleans opened the week as a 3.5-point favorite at home over Los Angeles. According to OddsShark, a couple of oddsmakers have dropped the betting line three points.

One reason for the line change could be the way the public is picking the game. The Action Network is now listing the point spread at a field goal, reporting that 58 percent of the bets against the spread have been on the visiting Rams.

The total has also dropped from 57 points to 56.5 or 56 at some sportsbooks.

Some NFL bettors might be jumping at the chance to finally grab points with L.A. The Rams weren’t an underdog once during their first 17 games of the season.

Los Angeles tied New Orleans with an NFL-best 13-3 record in the regular season. The Rams ranked first in the NFC with an average of 32.9 points and 421.1 yards per game. L.A. was also first in the conference with 6.3 yards per play.

The Rams’ defense failed them when they visited the Saints in New Orleans on Nov. 4. Los Angeles lost 45-35. The Rams ended the regular season ranked 19th in total defense and 20th in points allowed. Los Angeles was 26th in yards allowed per play.

The Saints failed to cover the spread in the divisional playoffs when they defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 20-14 at the Superdome.

New Orleans has lost against the spread in four straight games. Los Angeles has covered three consecutive betting lines.
