Ryan Gosling chose to be with a friend during a recent night out, less than a week after Eva Mendes and their kids were spotted in LA without him.

On Monday, the Hollywood actor, 38, was photographed grabbing food with a close pal at Little Dom’s in the Los Feliz neighborhood of California. Based on the images obtained by Just Jared, Gosling tried his best to go incognito during the outing.

For his quality time with his friend, the “Drive” star opted to wear a simple plaid shirt and a pair of jeans. He also wore a baseball cap and he kept his head down when he was being snapped by the paparazzi.

Gosling’s low-profile dinner outing comes days after Mendes was spotted out in Los Angeles with their two daughters: Esmeralda, four, and Amanda, three. For their sunny outing on June 19, the 45-year-old actress looked stunning in a red maxi dress with white lace trim.

It wasn’t clear at the time why Ryan wasn’t able to join his family for the outing. However, there was no sign of a strain in their relationship at present. The two of them remain very focused on parenting their kids.

In a recent interview with “The Talk,” the “Hitch” actress disclosed that she and Ryan were having a hard time teaching their daughters Spanish. She also revealed in the same interview how her partner changed her mind about having kids.

“I’m Cuban and we’re trying to teach the kids Spanish, and it’s harder than I thought. I speak Spanglish and that’s what they’re picking up. So it’s adorable but it’s technically not a language. It’s Spanglish,” she said.

Mendes then candidly opened up about why she changed her mind about never wanting kids. According to her, she never really thought of having kids but things changed when she fell in love with Gosling.

“I was never one of those women who really wanted children, and then I fell in love with Ryan. I was like, ‘Oh I get it. I don’t want children, I want your children. I want your babies,’” she said.
