Lifetime will air its “Full House” special, "The Unauthorized Full House Story," on Aug. 22. The made-for-TV film promises to showcase what really went on behind-the-scenes of the hit 1990s sitcom.

The filmmakers and casting department for the Lifetime movie recently shared that selecting the perfect actors for the film has been somewhat challenging, and that it’s not always easy to find the right cast members for roles that have already been filled. But luckily for them, it looks like they have finally found one actor to play one of the series' iconic roles.

Lifetime has signed Justin Gaston to portray the role of John Stamos, who played lovable singer Uncle Jesse Katsopolis in the series. Uncle Jesse later married Rebecca Donaldson, played by Lori Loughlin.

"Finding someone as good looking as John Stamos to play John Stamos was a challenge," Lisa Hamilton-Daly, A+E Networks' VP, Original Movies, told People on Thursday.

Louisiana-born Gaston played Ben Rogers on soap opera “Days of Our Lives” and has guest starred on Fox series “Glee.” It is worth noting that the 26 year old's dark hair and bone structure are similar to Stamos.

“He looks a lot like John and has the same charm and warmth,” Hamilton-Daly added.

In the midst of casting for Lifetime's "The Unauthorized Full House Story," Netflix is also working on a “Full House” spin-off. “Fuller House” will include most of the series’ original cast, with the exception of the Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, who played Michelle Tanner on the program. Stamos confirmed the project had taken years to organize and was a "labor of love" to Jimmy Kimmel in April.

“Full House” was created by Jeff Franklin and ran on ABC from 1987 to 1995. The series focused on father Danny Tanner (Bob Saget), a news anchor whose wife passes away and raises his three daughters, D.J.(Candace Cameron Bure), Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and Michelle, with the help of his best-friend and comedian Joey Gladstone (David Coulier) and brother-in-law Jesse. Its one-hour series finale on May 23, 1995 and was watched by 24.3 million viewers.
