The Vissles-M portable touch screen monitor is incredibly easy to use and doesn't require any preparation. All you have to do is connect the monitor to a device that needs a screen, and the monitor is good to go. Thanks to the ports on the Vissles-M, the monitor supports anything with an HDMI or USB-C output. This includes game consoles, both Windows and Mac computers and even some phones and tablets.

The Vissles-M monitor comes with an HDMI to Mini HDMI cable, as the monitor only has a Mini HDMI port. The monitor also has two built-in USB-C ports. These ports can be used to power the monitor or serve as a way to connect a laptop that uses USB-C outputs, like many modern Macbooks.

As for audio, the monitor has both a standard 3.5mm headphone jack and its own built-in speakers. Unfortunately, the monitor does not support audio output through the USB-C ports, or at least didn't support the USB-C headset I plugged in. The built-in speakers are very quiet, even when at max volume, so they will probably only come in handy in a pinch. Expect to plug in a headset for solo use or wire up some kind of speakers if the monitor will be used by more than one person.

There are also a host of other traditional monitor options built into the Vissles-M portable touch screen monitor, including adjustable brightness levels, the ability to turn on and off HDR and the ability to make color correcting adjustments.

Great Display

As an actual monitor, the Vissles-M portable touch screen monitor hits just about every benchmark wanted from a modern screen. The display is 15.6 inches, has a 1080p resolution, a 60hz refresh rate and HDR features. This means the display is crisp and clear, and has a very smooth framerate.

For the PS4/Xbox One/Switch era of consoles, this screen is pretty much the best you can get. Those consoles only output at a max of 1080p/60 FPS anyway. While the PS5 and Xbox Series line of consoles can output in 4K, games will still look great scaled back a little on the Vissles-M. The Vissles-M may fall short of the 4K benchmark many are looking for in computer monitors these days, but good luck getting a 4K monitor for around $200 right now.

Very Portable

The Vissles-M portable touch screen monitor really lives up to its portability. This screen is very lightweight and incredibly easy to tuck into a bag to bring along with whatever other electronics you may want. The best part is that the monitor can be used with a majority of other electronics without its own power supply.

When plugging the monitor into a laptop or PC, the monitor can be powered by the laptop itself. The same is true for most game consoles. The only times a dedicated power cable needs to be plugged into the Vissles-M monitor is when connecting the monitor to a cell phone, tablet or Nintendo Switch. For these, all that is needed is an additional USB-C cable to provide power, such as a cell phone charger or something similar.

The included protective case doubles as a stand to support the Vissles-M monitor, though it is a little flimsy. The case is also only held on with fairly weak magnets, so a new case may be needed to keep the monitor safe during travel and use. If the monitor is going to be placed on a desk and will sit there for extended periods of time, the case should be fine enough.

Selective Touch Controls

While the Vissles-M monitor is portable, its touch screen capabilities feel pretty limited. Of course, the monitor's touch screen abilities can only be used by devices that recognize touch inputs, so that means game consoles and a number of laptops aren't going to support the touch screen features already.

However, a number of devices that one might think touch screen input would be compatible with also weren't supported. For example, I plugged my OnePlus 7T smartphone into the monitor, and all it did was mirror my phone's screen. When plugging in a fairly new Macbook, the monitor could only be used as a second screen.

Even with supported devices, touch screen inputs only work when configured in a certain way. My Chromebook supported touch inputs when connected to the Vissles-M monitor, but only when the USB-C to USB cable was connected to the computer along with the HDMI cable. The touch controls did not work when the monitor was being powered by a wall outlet.

Final Thoughts

As an easy to use extra monitor or portable screen, the Vissles-M portable touch screen monitor is a fantastic option. It can be tucked away in virtually any bag and weighs less than a pound and a half. Considering the monitor can be completely powered by most of the devices that are plugged into it, I can already imagine busting out a PS4 during a flight delay at the airport and getting some gaming in.

However, the Vissles-M monitor does suffer from a seeming lack of touch screen support. Despite the monitor offering touch screen capabilities, it seems like very few devices are compatible, and even the ones that do support touch controls need to be configured in specific ways first.

Ultimately, if you are looking for a portable, easy to use monitor, the Vissles-M is a great option. Its touch controls and built-in speaker may be lacking, but everything else about the monitor, from its portability to its ease of use to its great display, is fantastic.
