Wall Street opened little changed on Thursday after data showed the U.S. economy shrank less than expected in the second quarter and initial jobless claims fell, but not as much as forecast.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> gained 10.13 points, or 0.11 percent, to 9,553.65. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> dropped 1.13 points, or 0.11 percent, to 1,026.99. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> shed 2.94 points, or 0.15 percent, to 2,021.49.

The preliminary reading of gross domestic product in the second quarter was unchanged at minus 1 percent, while initial claims for state unemployment benefits dropped to 570,000, and those collecting long-term unemployment benefits fell to the lowest level since April.
