Listen my children and you shall hear: Beck won the Album of the Year award at the 57th Grammy Awards for his record, “Morning Phase.” The alt-rocker beat out other worthy contenders like Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, Pharrell Williams and Sam Smith. Even Kanye West couldn’t believe it, and he motioned towards the stage as if to pull another “Imma let you finish.” Fortunately, the two men settled it without bringing Beyoncé into the fray.

But the upset quickly spilled over to Twitter as young fans asked some serious questions:

If you are also unfamiliar with search engines, Beck is a seasoned singer-songwriter with 12 studio albums under his belt. After a tumultuous childhood influenced by folk, rock, blues, funk and hip hop; Beck broke into the mainstream in the 90s with “Mellow Gold” and its hit single, “Loser,” and the follow-up “Odelay.” Since then, he has continued to evolve his sound, tour and record new work. And now you’ve heard of Beck.
