  • Bethesda announced "The Elder Scrolls 6" in June 2018
  • Bethesda said the game is still in its early stage of development
  • Phil Spencer may have revealed something about the release of "The Elder Scrolls 6"

American video game developer and publisher Bethesda Softworks announced "The Elder Scrolls 6" over three years ago but did not reveal the game's release date. However, Xbox head honcho Phil Spencer has recently spilled new information about the game's release window and it seems like no one has noticed it until now.

Phil Spencer, the vice president of gaming at Microsoft and head of the Xbox brand, talked about "Fable" on the "Unlocked" podcast on June 30. The executive noted that the game is still in development. He also shared some things about "The Elder Scrolls 6." When the interviewer asked him if "Fable" would release before the much-awaited Bethesda title, the executive said the latter was "further out."

"Fable" would not yet be released at least until 2023, according to a recent report from Comicbook. This means that "The Elder Scrolls 6" will not release in the rumored 2022 window. Instead, the upcoming franchise installment might come out in 2024, at the earliest.

This release window actually makes sense and aligns with Bethesda's earlier statement about the launch of "The Elder Scrolls 6." "Starfield" is scheduled to release in 2022, which means the gaming studio could reveal more details about "TES 6" by then.

Details about the game are scarce though it was announced three years ago. So far, Bethesda has revealed that the upcoming title would be built on the Creation Engine 2 tech, the same game engine the team is using to develop "Starfield." In a recent interview with Telegraph, Bethesda Director and Executive Producer Todd Howard noted that "TES 6" is in the design phase.

The executive made it clear that the upcoming AAA RPG is still in its early stage of development.

"The vast majority of our development work is on Starfield right now, but everybody works on everything, so the projects kind of intertwine. It’s good to think of The Elder Scrolls 6 as still being in a design [stage]," he added.
