The field for the 2021 College World Series is set as eight teams head for Omaha, Nebraska. The teams make up two double-elimination brackets, and the two contenders that survive will meet in a best-of-three series with the NCAA championship on the line.

The action starts Saturday with two games featuring all of Bracket 1. No. 9 Stanford will take on unranked N.C. State at 2 p.m. EDT, followed by a 7 p.m. matchup between No. 4 Vanderbilt and No. 5 Arizona. The two losers will meet Monday at 2 p.m. in an elimination game. The winners will face off five hours later.

Bracket 2 starts Sunday when No. 3 Tennessee and unranked Virginia face off. No. 2 Texas and No. 7 Mississippi State are scheduled to play in the nightcap. Like Bracket 1, the losers and winners of those contests will meet two days later.

The odds suggest that Vanderbilt and Texas will be the two teams left standing after a week of baseball. Vanderbilt is the overall favorite with +275 odds to win the College World Series, according to DraftKings Sportsbook. Texas ranks second with +325 odds.

The Commodores are led by two star pitchers who are highly sought after by MLB teams. In 202 combined innings, Jack Leiter and Kumar Rocker have pitched to a 2.32 ERA while allowing a sub-.150 batting average and striking out 311 hitters. Texas is in the College World Series for a record 37th time.

Tennessee is viewed as the top threat to Texas in Bracket 2 with +350 title odds. There’s significant separation between Vanderbilt and the second-best team in Bracket 1, Arizona, which has +600 odds.

Mississippi State (+650) and Stanford (+800) will try to overcome the odds and make a championship run. Virginia (+1000) and N.C. State (+1200) are the biggest long shots in the field.

The College World Series Finals starts June 28. The first team to get two victories will be crowned the champion. There are no days off scheduled in between games during the finals.
