Miami police are searching for the gunman or gunmen who shot and wounded 15 people, one critically, at a nightclub party early Sunday. One of the victims was just 11 years old.

The shooting occurred at The Spot about 1 a.m. EDT, the Miami Herald reported. Miami Fire Rescue Capt. Ignatius Carroll said the scene was chaotic when ambulances arrived. Seven victims were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital with hip, leg and other injuries. Carroll said one victim was not breathing. Two of the victims were male, and five were female, CBSMiami reported. Others sought treatment on their own.

Police said it was unclear how many people were in the club at the time, but a woman who was across the street told the Herald there had to be at least 100.

“Shots were flying everywhere,” she said.

Witnesses told police it appeared groups of people were shooting at each other, the Herald said. They estimated 100 shots were fired from four guns, CBSMiami said.

The victims ranged in age from 11 to 25. Police representative Frederica Burden said it was unclear why children and teenagers were in the club, which sits between a smoke shop and a furniture store. The club reportedly opened three weeks ago.
