Amazon.com Inc, the operator of retail websites, reported on Monday it will open a new fulfillment center and employed over a thousand people to better serve its customers on the Northeast part of the country.

The company said the new 600,000 square-foot center located in Hazelton, Pennsylvania, will create 1,100 jobs in the next three years.

Amazon added it will hire 800 additional seasonal workers in order to make the service more efficient and quick.

Shares of Amazon rose 7.62 percent to $82.29 on the New York Stock Exchange on after hours electronic trading on Monday.
