Advanced Micro Devices, maker of computer processors and graphics chips, announced on Wednesday the opening of a new design center in Fort Collins, Colorado, tailored to build next generation processors.

The new center, dubbed, the Mile High Design Center, will be led by 24 year semiconductor veteran Mark Porter. Porter, who has microprocessor design experience, has been with AMD for five years, the firm stated.

The opening of the Mile High Design Center is a testament to our ongoing commitment to customers, Jeff VerHeul, a Corporate Vice President at AMD said.

By growing the flexibility and agility of our chip design network, we can continue to efficiently deliver innovative solutions that help customers bring the right products to market at the right time.

AMD also operates microprocessor design centers in Sunnyvale, CA; Austin, TX; Boxborough, MA; Bangalore, India; and Dresden, Germany.
