Newlyweds Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco greeted its citizens and led the country in observing its National Day on Saturday.

During the morning ceremonies and the gala evening festivities, the princess opted for dresses in monochromatic colors.

For the morning events, Charlene was dressed in a beige color jacket with a "funnel neck" and a knee-length skirt of the same shade. She paired the dress with elbow-length beige gloves and nude heels. For the evening festivities, she donned a gown in a brown shade with her hair swept back in a bun.

This was the first National Day that Charlene attended as princess of Monaco. During the celebrations, the royal couple was joined by Princess Caroline and Princess Stephanie, along with Caroline's children: Andrea, Caroline, and Pierre Casiraghi, and Princess Alexandra.

According to Examiner.com, the holiday dates back to 1856. Albert moved the holiday to Nov. 19, the feast day of St. Rainier of Arezzo, in honor of his father, Prince Rainier III. The day included many festivities, such as a fireworks display, bonfire, thanksgiving mass and Te Deum, and, of course, the balcony appearance of the royals during the annual parade.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton released a statement congratulating the people of Monaco on the celebration of their country's 155th National Day.

Take a look at Princess Charlene's outfits during the celebration.
