Network equipment maker Avaya said on Wednesday it won key regulatory approvals for its bid for Nortel Networks Corp's enterprise business, adding that it expects to close the deal in December.

Avaya said it was granted early termination of the antitrust waiting period, and received regulatory clearance from the Canadian Competition Bureau, although it is still subject to some additional regulatory reviews.

Nortel, which filed for bankruptcy protection in January, is selling off its assets rather than trying to restructure.
