A 6-year-old boy identified as Falcon Heene went missing on Thursday afternoon in Colorado after a balloon where he was believed to be floating in, landed empty.

The balloon landed about 50 miles away from where it lifted off. The family reported the boy was in the balloon when it unhooked and lifted off, according to ABC's Denverchannel.com.

The balloon flew for about two hours before landing 2 miles east of Prospect Reservoir near Colorado Springs.

Officials were tracking the balloon's path on speculations the boy may have fallen from the balloon.
