Brian de Villiers could have become famous for coaching Melanie Oudin after her admirable run at the U.S. Open, but he is instead making headlines for his involvement in an affair scandal with the player's mother Leslie Oudin.

De Villiers, who was recently named United States Olympic Committee Developmental Coach of the year and has 30 years couching, reportedly admitted to Melanie's father that he had an affair with Mrs. Oudin, SI.com reports.

John Oudin filed for divorce in Georgia on August 12, 2008 citing her wife had been unfaithful during marriage, SI.com reported Thursday. Mrs. Oudin denied the allegation in a response to the complaint, according to the report.

17-year old Melanie Oudin defeated Maria Sharapova, Elena Dementieva and Nadia Petrova, top ranked players. But she was ousted in a quarterfinals match against Caroline Wozniacki.
Her parents' divorce proceedings are ongoing and a mediation hearing is scheduled for December 7, according to SI.com.
