Former Vicepresident Dick Cheney had a mild heart attack on Tuesday but has recovered and may be released from the hospital in one or two days, his family said in a statement.

Cheney, 69 was admitted to George Washington University Hospital in Washington after experiencing chest pains, the statement read.

A lab test revealed he suffered a mild heart attack, his family informed.

This is the fifth heart attack Cheney has suffered in the last three decades, his office noted.
