Friday, Herman Edwards the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs was fired after three seasons.

After careful deliberation over the last week, Scott and I decided that it was in the best interests of the Chiefs to move forward in a different direction. This was not an easy decision.

Herm is an outstanding football coach and a man of integrity. We appreciate his leadership over the past three seasons, and we wish him all the best in the future, team chairman Clark Hunt said in a statement released by the team.

Murmurs and speculation are out saying that there is someone indeed working on Edwards' exiting. For the avid fans the news of Edwards' ouster had been expected since Pioli became the club's GM last week.

Scott Pioli, the general manager, who was recently hired to join Kanasas City, said that he did not make any move to dismiss Edwards, but thought a new change is needed, After careful consideration, Clark and I felt that it was best to make a change.

In a statement released by the team Edwards said that he understands the changes going on, I understand the tough decision that was made to move in a new direction - There is not a more gracious family in all of professional sports than the Hunts. To the players and coaches who worked so hard for our team, I appreciate their efforts.
