China Unicom, one of the largest communications companies in China, is willing to discuss introducing Apple's popular iPhone to the Chinese market, a management person of China Unicom Ltd. said on Wednesday.

Li Zhengmao, China Unicom's executive director and vice president, said to Dow Jones in the margins of GSMA Mobile Asia Congress that it seems that iPhone was very popular and that his company is willing to consult with Apple Inc. about getting the phone to the mainland.

However, he said, China Unicom has not yet discussed the matter with Apple.

Zhengmao said the company has interest on consultation, but he did not elaborate.

China Unicom's rival, China Mobile Ltd., said on Tuesday that they were discussing the related issues about introducing of the iPhone to China with Apple already.
