New York City will join the celebration of Columbus Day with the 65th Annual Christopher Columbus Day Parade on Monday beginning at 11:00 am EST.

The Parade will march along Fifth Avenue between 47th Street and 79th Street. It is expected to end at 3:00 pm EST.

About 35,000 marchers, more than 100 bands, floats and contingents and one million spectators are expected to participate, according to the organizers.

The parade is a New York tradition since 1929 and was founded by the Columbus Citizens Foundation to celebrate Italian-American heritage.
