For the first time after his split with Charlotte Casiraghi of Monaco about a year ago, French-Moroccan comedian Gad Elmaleh has confirmed that he and his former girlfriend are "not together." The former couple has a 2-year-old son Raphaël.

The couple reportedly split in June 2015. The 29-year-old royal started dating Gad in December 2011. “Me and Charlotte are not together any more but I go to see my baby,” said Gad, speaking in an interview with WWD. The stand-up comedian, who has two movies to his credit, also spoke about loving the anonymity in New York, his family and “crush” designer Diane von Furstenberg.

The actor added that his little son also comes to meet him in New York City. However, he said that in spite of the breakdown of their relationship, the three of them were very close and were “a family.” Gad said that Raphaël and his mother were living in Europe with Charlotte’s family and he often went there to visit them.

After their split, neither Gad nor Charlotte confirmed the news. They were also spotted together on several occasions like the wedding of Charlotte's younger brother Pierre with Italian heiress Beatrice Borromeo last summer. In August, a source told People magazine that the two had been “spending more time together.”

Now, it has been reported that Charlotte has moved to Rome with her new boyfriend. In November, Charlotte was spotted with Italian filmmaker Lamberto Sanfelice on the streets of Paris. The picture surfaced in the Spanish publication Hola. According to French publication Voici and other European press, the royal has moved on with the director.

Talking about his friendship with designer Diane von Furstenberg, Gad admitted he had a “crush” on her when they were stuck on an Air France plane. “I did my first appearance on American television because she brought Seth Meyers to my show,” Gad told WWD. He also appeared on late-night shows with Trevor Noah, Larry Wilmore and Conan O’Brien.
