"A complaint was made by a social media user concerned about the safety of two children being involved after viral related videos and pictures since yesterday," Tawau District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Peter Umbuas, said. "Immediately after receiving the report, a team of officers and members were sent to the scene but the suspect was no longer at the premises. He is now believed to be hiding with his two children."

No arrests have been made as of Thursday afternoon and the police have asked anyone with information to contact them immediately.

The incident comes months after a man in Indonesia was arrested after a video of him feeding beer to a 4-month-old baby went viral on social media. In the video, the accused, who is the infant’s uncle, was seen drinking alcohol with a few friends. Moments later, the infant wakes up and starts crying. That’s when the accused, who was irritated by the baby’s crying, picks up the infant and gives him a mixture of beer and an energy drink. One of the accused’s friends recorded the incident and shared it on Facebook, following which the accused was taken into custody.
