Jobless claims drop more than expected
The weekly jobless claims report for the week ending July 31 was released today at 8:30 a.m. by the U.S. Department of Labor. Claims fell 38,000 to a much better-than-expected level of 550,000. The current level is right at the four-week average of 555,250.

Fed to release Balance sheet report
The Fed's balance sheet report is scheduled to be released today at 4:30pm EST. The report shows factors supplying reserves into the banking system and factors absorbing reserve funds.

Money supply indicator to be released
The money supply indicator will be released today at 4:30pm EST. The monetary aggregates are alternative measures of the money supply by degree of liquidity.
