Twenty-second seeded Daniela Hantuchova has lost her chance of reaching the quarterfinals after Serena Williams dominated the court and beat her 6-2, 6-0 on Sunday morning.

Williams finished with eight aces and a 27-9 advantage in winners in Sunday's first match in front of a half-filled Arthur Ashe Stadium.

By beating Slovakia's Hantuchova, Williams moved one victory from a potential star-studded semifinal with her sister, Venus, who plays on Ashe later this afternoon against Kim Clijsters

Williams has reached the quarter-finals at 11 of the past 12 major tournaments and has taken home the title at three of the past four.
