Dell introduced its first tablet PC on Tuesday, which includes a capacitative touch screen.

The new Dell Latitude XT is a 12.1-inch convertible tablet and weighs 3.57. The screen folds back on top of the computer to allow users to use the device for writing on the screen with a specially provided pen.

The computer's screen also has capacitative touch technology which can sense the touch of a finger with no pressure required to recognize input.

The hardware also supports future multi-touch functionality, which allows for the use of more than one finger for tasks such as zooming and repositioning images.

The computer also offers an optional daylight viewing display, Dell said.

The system starts at $2,499. Dell says it is taking orders will ship the computer by the end of the year.
