Hilary Duff, singer/actress, joined Barely Legal a NBC sitcom described as a legal version of Doogie Howser, M.D. to play a young lawyer, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The half-hour comedy is based on the true story of Kathleen Holtz, a girl who passed the California bar exam in 2007 at the age of 18 and went on to become the state's youngest lawyer.

Duff jointed the project as part of a production deal with NBC and producer Universal Media Studios.
