EMC, the information management and storage company, announced the completion of another acquisition on Monday, adding Massachusetts-based Network Intelligence to its fold.

Network Intelligence's products monitor networks by analyzing performance and creating alerts for possible security breaches. The purchase allows EMC to develop products that can monitor security in real-time, strengthening its security division.

Joe Tucci, EMC's Chairman, President and CEO, said, Information security continues to dominate the spending intentions of CIO's around the world. The battlefront in security has quickly shifted from securing the network perimeter to protecting and securing the information itself-wherever that information lives and wherever it moves.

Earlier this year EMC purchased the digital security solutions vendor RSA Security for slightly less than 2.1 billion.

The acquisition of Network Intelligence is expected to close by the end of business on September 18, 2006, however financial terms were not disclosed.
