HOUSTON - A 100,200 barrel-per-day (bpd) gasoline-producing fluidic catalytic cracking (FCC) unit is one of two units shut at Exxon Mobil Corp's 150,000-bpd refinery in Torrance, California, according to sources familiar with plant operations.

An Exxon spokeswoman declined to identify which units were shut at the refinery.

The units were shut due to a breakdown that would lead to planned flaring at the Los Angeles-area refinery between Monday and Tuesday, according to a notice Exxon filed on Sunday with California pollution regulators.

Exxon said it was preparing to restart the units. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by Lisa Shumaker)
