Cisco (Carlos Valdes, left) asked out Kendra Saunders (Ciara Renée, right) in episode 5 of "The Flash" Season 2. The CW

Cisco (Carlos Valdes) has a hot date! It took two tries, but the S.T.A.R. Labs scientist scored the number of the cute new barista in episode 5 of "The Flash" Season 2. However, the most surprising thing about Cisco's new love interest is not that he got her number -- Although, he has not exactly had a lot of luck on the series in that department -- but her identity. The new character's name is Kendra Saunders (Ciara Renée), better known to comic book fans as Hawkgirl, one of the upcoming heroes in the CW series "Legends of Tomorrow."

With Barry (Grant Gustin) and Patty (Shantel VanSanten) playing a game of "will they or won't they," Cisco decided he would show his friend how it is done and try his luck with the new barista at the local coffee shop.

"Do you want coffee?" she asked Cisco.

“No, I don’t want coffee. You know what I do want though? I want to ask you this,” Cisco replied. “You want to go out with me?”

Cisco's bold move was rejected, but when he returned to the coffee shop later in the episode, the barista, who introduced herself as Kendra Saunders, said she was new to Central City and was simply thrown off by Cisco's advances. He asked her out again and this time she said yes!

While this may have seemed like just a fun, romantic moment for the fan favorite character, the CW series has something bigger up its sleeve. Comic book fans will recognize Saunders as the true identity of meta-human superhero Hawkgirl. According to the DC Comics website, Hawkgirl, known as Shayera Hol on her home planet of Thanagar, is a legendary warrior who wields a mace and uses a mysterious gravity-defying metal only found on her home planet to fly. In the comics she comes to Earth after chasing a criminal and stays to help restore justice and order. She often appears in conjunction with superhero Hawkman, of course.

Actress Ciara Renée sounded pretty excited to maker her debut, tweeting about the appearance to her fans.

Hawkgirl is set to be a centerpiece of the upcoming "Legends of Tomorrow" series, which is expected in 2016, but only time will tell how Kendra Saunders superhero alter ego will factor into "The Flash." Here's to a Hawkgirl/Vibe romance!

"The Flash" airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on the CW.
