Fox Latin America has apologized for a Facebook poll which sought to uncover people's opinions on who was responsible for the death of Jesus Christ; the choices given were Pontius Pilate, the Jewish people or the High Priests.

The poll that landed the television network in hot water was on a page promoting a National Geographic Christmas special, an Associated Press report stated.

The Simon Weisenthal Center, a Jewish group in Buenos Aires, slammed Fox for the derogatory poll they said was perpetuating an agenda decried as one of the key reasons for centuries of anti-Semitism. The Catholic Church has maintained since 1964 that Jews were not to be held responsible for the death of Jesus Christ.

The poll has been removed and Fox spokeswoman Guadalupe Lucero has issued an apology on behalf of National Geographic.
