A new Frey character reportedly will be seen in “Game of Thrones” Season 6, and the producers are said to be looking for an actor to play the role. Meanwhile, another report speculates which character from the books new cast member Ian McShane will play in the TV series. [Spoiler Alert!]

WatchersOnTheWall reported the new role is of a “hapless sly son to cruel father.” The character is said to be in his 30s and will be seen in three episodes next Season. The producers are said to be looking for a “characterful-looking guy” who has a long nose, skeletal features and looks “a bit sly.”

The character is said to be the son of a “savage father” and he is “unable to live up to the demands” of his father. The actor chosen for this part will reportedly be seen with some of the leading cast members of the TV series.

The report speculates the character belongs to the House of Frey, based on the physical description of the character that seems similar to David Bradley, who plays Walder Frey. The new character in “Game of Thrones” Season 6 is expected to be Merrett Frey.

The new character will only appear for one season and the report speculates the character may die. It has also been pointed out that a set of “outlaw” characters have been cast this time around and it is possible the outlaws will have something to do with the Freys. The report, however, doesn’t specify whether the plot will involve revenge for the Red Wedding, in which the Freys massacred the Stark forces.

Meanwhile, another report by WatchersOnTheWall speculates some of the characters McShane could play: Euron Greyjoy, a northern lord, Randyll Tarly, Septon Meribald, Marwyn the Mage, Howland Reed or Aerys II Targaryen.

The report noted the storyline in “Game of Thrones” Season 6 offers a lot of opportunities for flashbacks and McShane may be seen in one such scene. The most probable character the actor will play, according to the report, is of Randyll Tarly.
