Geraldo Rivera is best known for reporting the news, but after tweeting his seminude selfie Sunday, the 70-year-old might develop a different kind of reputation. For the celebratory image, he shed not only his clothing but his humility. The only thing covering up Rivera’s unmentionables in the mirror pic was a white towel.
“70 is the new 50,” Rivera wrote, adding, “Erica and family are going to be so pissed ... but at my age ... ” Although Rivera didn’t elaborate, he might have posted the image as a way to celebrate his birthday: He turned the big 7-0 on the Fourth of July this year.
Many tweeted about the photo and wrote it was something they could not unsee! Netizens were generally stunned by the image. Until Sunday, almost all the famously mustached journalist’s tweets centered on breaking news and current events. He got hundreds of favorites and retweets of the image, but after the revealing image was up for a few hours, it was taken down. Unfortunately for Rivera, it will forever live online, as at BuzzFeed.
Following the deletion of the seminude photo, Rivera tweeted:
Note to self: no tweeting after 1am

A few hours later, Rivera went back to posting about breaking news, with a few tweets centered on a chopper that was circling near the George Washington Bridge in New York:
Something happening around the GWB. Chopper circling low, flashing cop lights along the Manhattan shore.

Check out what the Twitterati had to say about Rivera’s post-shower pose:

Geraldo Rivera's selfie is the most disappointing thing to happen on media since Geraldo Rivera opened Al Capone's vault.

Geraldo Rivera, I know you wanna show you're fit for an old dude but wouldn't a nice family photo at the beach suffice?
