Internet giant Google provides its users now with free of charge traffic warnings. Through the map function of its search portal Google Maps real time traffic information for 13 countries including United States, France, Britain, Australia, and Canada is displayed, as the company announced. Owners of smart phones with the Google operating system Android additionally receive detour recommendations through the navigate function of the device.

The traffic alarm can be turned on in the right upper corner of Google Maps through the traffic button. The user can choose between road traffic and public transportation delays. Also the traffic jam probability for certain days and hours can be displayed. This data is calculated based on date of the previous days.
