The father of Growing Pains actor Andrew Koenig told reporters Thursday that his son committed suicide.

My son took his own life, Walter Koenig said today.

The actor's body was found at Stanley Park in Vancouver by several of his friends, Mr. Koenig said.

He was in a lot of pain, the actor's father said, according to CNN.

Koenig, who is probably best known for playing the role of Richard Boner Stabone in the 1980's sitcom Growing Pains, was reported to be missing in Canada since February 14.
