Harry Potter fans might want to hold onto their sorting hats — because this soul-crushing news is definitely about to blow you away. According to J.K. Rowling, author of the successful fantasy novel-turned blockbuster, her main character Hermoine Granger has apparently said “I do” to the wrong wizard. What the! This must be some kind of early April fool’s joke, right?

Rowling decided to open up about her best-kept-secret in the latest issue of Wonderland, which coincidentally features Emma Watson — the red carpet star who portrayed the academically achieving Muggle-born character. In the magazine, Rowland divulged in the scandalous admission of why she believed Hermoine should have never ended up with Harry Potter’s best red-headed bud, Ron Weasley. Talk about a shot to the heart.

“I know, I’m sorry. I can hear the range and fury it might cause some fans,” the writer opened up, obviously anticipating anger from loyal readers.

"I wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfillment. That's how it was conceived, really. For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron," Rowling continued. “But if I'm absolutely honest, distance has given me perspective on that. It was a choice I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of credibility. Am I breaking people's hearts by saying this? I hope not."

Oh, you couldn’t be more wrong, J.K. Rowling! We can hear the cracking of blood-pumping organs now as they read this. Did the Harry Potter author forget that fans of the series had waited eight-long novels/film to finally see Hermoine and Ron to finally lock lips. And now she pulls this on us? Rowling better hopes no one knows the Avada Kedavra spell (the Killing Curse).

Watson, however, stood behind the writer and her jaw-dropping revelation. "I think there are fans out there who know that too and who wonder whether Ron would have really been able to make her happy."

So who does Rowling and Watson think Hermoine should have ended up with? As if punishing one Granger wasn’t enough the author wanted her quick-witted character to fall in love with Harry! Harry, as we all know, has had his fair share of romance. But ultimately he got down on one knee for Ginny, Ron’s younger sister.
