“Iron Man 3” will arrive in theaters on May 3, and Marvel has released the theatrical trailer for the summer blockbuster. Many believe "Iron Man 3," which follows Tony Stark's previous appearance in “The Avengers,” will not only be a big hit but will also take Stark into outer space.

In the theatrical trailer for “Iron Man 3,” viewers get a glimpse of a distracted Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr., a man who cannot sleep and is also questioning his decision to suit up as Iron Man. The trailer also features the Mandarin, played by Ben Kingsley, as the film’s main villain. Don Cheadle returns as James Rhodes and will once again wear the War Machine armor.

The Mandarin acts like a terrorist, and, in the trailer, it’s hinted he will make things personal with Stark. The trailer focuses on Stark being tested and deciding what is important to him, which includes protecting the one he loves, Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow).

The final dramatic shot has Stark and Rhodes discussing the best way to handle the Mandarin, which leads to the introduction of several Iron Man armors, including the Hulkbuster suit. Many speculated that Iron Man could be making a trip to space, but nothing in the trailer reveals any clues.

The speculation about Iron Man in space began after “The Avengers,” with many believing that, in “Iron Man 3,” Stark would be confronted with nearly dying in space and creating a new armor to deal with outer space. An Iron Man Deep Space Suit was revealed by Funko at the London Toy Fair, notes Screen Crush, and Latino Review has a scoop as to why Iron Man would go to space and how that could tie into another big upcoming Marvel movie.

According to Latino Review, Iron Man will use the Deep Space Suit to meet up with the Guardians of the Galaxy at the end of “Iron Man 3.” This will help introduce the next big Marvel movie, which will be released in 2014.

"Guardians of the Galaxy" does not have the name recognition as "The Avengers," so an introduction in one of Marvel’s biggest properties will help fans get excited for a new movie involving a superhero team, consisting of a talking raccoon named Rocket Raccoon, a talking living tree named Groot, a superhuman named Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, the adopted daughter of Thanos and the half-human Star-Lord. James Gunn will direct “Guardians of the Galaxy,” and Star-Lord will be played by Christopher Pratt.
