Facebook.com, the online social networking site, announced on Tuesday that it would give away 10 million music samplers to students returning back to school.

The number 2 social networking site says it will give away 1 million music samplers each week, starting from Tuesday for 10 weeks. Each sampler will contain select songs from each genre, containing twenty-five songs in total, according to the Palo-Alto based firm.

Registered Facebook users can learn about the promotion via banner ads on the Web site, which offer each user access to a unique code. The first million codes that are chosen each week by Facebook officials will receive a music sampler.

The deal marks a new page in the battle between News Corp's Myspace social networking site, and Facebook. Last month, MySpace captured nearly 80 percent of visits to online social networking sites, while Facebook came in a distant second 7.6 percent, according to a study conducted by Hitwise.

This translates to about 52 million unique visitors to Facebook's 13 million, according to analysts.
