Sun Microsystems opens the annual JavaOne conference this year with the debut of Java Store, a global marketplace for cutting-edge Java applications.

The new store will open a new door for companies and developers to distribute content to Java desktop users worldwide, as well as key updates to its JavaFX and GlassFish Portfolio software. President and CEO Jonathan Schwartz of Sun Microsystems introduces the the new Java(SM) Store.

“Java is one of the most ubiquitous and widespread technology platforms the world has ever seen – and its future has never been brighter,” said Schwartz.

Additionally, Sun also preview the upcoming versions of Java Platform Standard Edition 7 (Java SE 7) and Java Platform Enterprise Edition 6 (Java EE 6).

Schwartz characterized the Java Store opening as a starting point for a new era for the Java community - one defined by technical brilliance, market innovation and new business opportunities.
