J&J strikes deal to buy Synthes for $21.3 billion
ZURICH, April 27 - Johnson & Johnson has struck a deal to snap up Swiss medical device maker Synthes Inc for $21.3 billion, the companies said on Wednesday.
The deal, which is expected to close in the first half of 2012, will boost J&J's orthopedics franchise and has the backing of both the Synthes and J&J boards.
