Remittances to Kenya climbed 4.3 percent to $576.34 million in the first 11 months of 2010 against a year earlier and are on track to beat 2008's all-time record of $611.24 million, official data showed on Friday.

Central Bank of Kenya data showed money sent home by Kenyans living abroad totalled $56.38 million in November, a 17 percent jump on the same month in 2009.

Money sent to relatives back home is typically invested in equities or property, or helps families pay routine bills such as medical charges and school fees.
