Kristian Nairn, Hodor from "Game of Thrones," came out as gay in a new interview. HBO

Kristian Nairn may be best known as Hodor from “Game of Thrones,” but he is an accomplished DJ who happens to be gay. In an interview with WinterIsComing.net, Nairn discusses his sexuality nonchalantly and says he’s been trying to get journalists to ask the question but no one has asked.

In the interview, Nairn discusses his time on “GoT,” his musical pursuits, career as a DJ and his love for “World of Warcraft.” He also discusses his involvement in the “Ripper Street” series and the “Treasure Trapped” documentary.

When the interviewer discussed Nairn’s following in the gay community, the actor opened up. Nairn said, “Well, in all honesty, when you talk about 'the gay community,' you are talking about MY community, haha.”

Nairn appreciates comments from fans and said he has not tried to hide his sexuality and was waiting for an opportunity, saying, “In fact, and I’ve been waiting for someone to ask about it in an interview, 'cos it’s not something you just blurt out. I’ve tried to lead the questions a few times, to no avail!”

The actor said the “GoT” cast and crew have been nothing but supportive, and being gay has never been a concern. Nairn said while he respects the right to privacy and everyone should have to right to choose who they are, he understands the importance of the issue and that’s why he is choosing to talk about it.

Needless to say, Nairn kept tightlipped in regards to anything “GoT.” Fans looking for some Season 4 spoilers are out of luck but the actor did discuss Hodor maybe being smarter than he appears. Nairn said he’s talked to George R.R. Martin about what’s next for Hodor, as well as his possible origin, and he says the character will be explored further in the series. Fans won't have to wait too much longer as the fourth season of "Game of Thrones" premieres on April 6.
