A vacant five story building located on 69 Reade Street TriBeCa collapsed partially just after 6:15am this morning; there were no reported casualties from the collapse

The cause of the collapse is not immediately known according to officials from the Fire and Buildings Departments, who briefed reporters at the scene.

There have been several complaints in recent days about that state of the building with many saying that it appeared fragile having loose bricks, cracks on the walls and that it shook.

The Buildings Department had ordered the contractor, who was performing construction work in the adjacent building, to perform shoring work on the inside and the outside of the unstable building, officials said, New York Times reported.
