  • Cynthia Villar is the richest Philippine senator in 2020
  • Her net worth is over P3.87 billion ($77.2 million) based on her SALN summary
  • Manny Pacquiao ranks second with a net worth of P3.18 billion ($63.4 million)

Despite Manny Pacquiao's illustrious boxing career and big-time endorsement deals, he still isn't the richest senator in the Philippines.

Cynthia Villar remains the richest among the country's 24 senators, based on the 2020 summary of Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) released on Monday.

The 71-year old Villar has a whopping P3.87 billion ($77.2 million) net worth, retaining her 2019 title of richest Philippine senator, ABS-CBN News reported. Villar's family owns companies in real estate, retail, land development and utilities, among other businesses in the Philippines.

Boxing's only eight-division world champion and 2022 presidential candidate trailed Villar at second place with a net worth of P3.18 billion ($63.4 million), according to his SALN.

Based on Villar's SALN summary, the senator has a total of P3,875,696,435.00 worth of assets, while her liabilities were marked "N/A" or "Not Applicable."

Her net worth slightly increased compared to her 2019 SALN summary worth P3.814 billion ($76.1 million). Pacquiao's assets also increased by P10 million, from P3.17 billion in 2019.

Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto rounded off the top three wealthiest senators of the Philippines with a P581 million net worth.

Villar's amassed wealth is not surprising. Her husband, Manuel "Manny" Villar, the country's former house speaker and senate president, is the second richest person in the Philippines, according to Forbes' list, just behind the Sy siblings. Villar is also No. 352 on Forbes' world's billionaire's list.

The self-made billionaire's real-time net worth is $6.8 billion.

On the other hand, Pacquiao, who was recently nominated as the administration party's presidential candidate for 2022, remains the richest athlete in the Philippines.

His last bout against Yordenis Ugas guaranteed him a $5 million purse, according to Bleacher Report. In addition, he could have earned more than $25 million from pay-per-view sales.
