Meryl Davis and Charlie White: Olympic gold medalists, sure; but lovers, no. The couple has been ice dancing together since Davis was too shy to look her partner in the eye, but throughout their years together their relationship remained professional. So who’s the lucky lady who makes White’s heart go pitter-patter? A lovely American-Canadian skater named Tanith Belbin.

So why isn’t there much publicity about her? The two don’t make a spectacle of their relationship. In fact, on Belbin’s Twitter account there are few pictures of her and White together. But according to Tireball.com, the two professional athletes are an item even if they don’t want anyone to know about it.

The site reports that Belbin and the Olympic gold medalist having been together for years. The 29-year-old blonde beauty was born in Canada, but competed for the United States. She is a five-time U.S. champion with partner Benjamin Agosto, and at the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics she won a silver medal.

The news site said it spoke to White before the Games and he was mum when it came to his personal life. “It actually still is. [A secret] So probably … we don’t really talk about it,” White said. “As an ice dancer, we take our on-ice relationships so seriously, and that’s really the way we like to go about it. [Davis and I] are just presenting ourselves as a team, and all the rest of that [with Belbin] can wait for later.”

Looks like the cat it out of the bag now. The significant others of professional athletes sometimes get just as much attention as they do. T.J. Oshie’s girlfriend Lauren Cosgrove was pelted into stardom over the weekend after the hockey player helped Team USA beat Russia in a shootout. Getting spotted at an Alabama football game was arguably what helped give Katherine Webb the career she has now.

Belbin hasn’t publicly commented on her relationship with White, but instead, tweeted that her boyfriend and Davis deserved their gold medal win at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
